Please Excuse His Language

Sexaholics Anonymous is a great place to meet broads.

Topics on the day include Brian’s role as comedy sorbet, whether troubled pasts desensitize comics to the embarassment of bombing, turning an open mic into a professional comedy room, and Robin Williams admits to his transgressions and is forgiven.  Fuckin-A!

I just uploaded the new Iowa Comedy Festival podcast:

    http://iacomedyfest.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/icf-podcast-show-four-with-annie-orourke/

I talk to RooftopComedy.com’s Annie O’Rourke. Annie is director of comedy productions over there at Rooftop and works closely with both the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival and their CD line.

If you guys haven’t checked out RooftopComedy.com, you should. It’s a terrific site.

You sounded exceptionally bitter this week, Brian. Good show.

I’ll never understand why more clubs and bookers don’t pay a little more attention to who they’re pairing up with whom on a bill. But as you said, the business person is usually more successful than the comic at running a club – the drawback is that they see most comics as temp workers and not artists-in-residence.

Have you seen this flap over Nick Madson, the “up-and-comer” who lifted material wholesale from Oswalt and others?

Let’s get one thing clear: Nick Madson is not an Iowan. In no way does he represent us, and he’s not a member of our scene. He’s some piece of shit from Colorado, or somewhere west of here, who came and hacked brilliant material at a place that doesn’t have comedy regularly. I want to set that straight.

Sorry all. No show this week. On my way back from my home club in Tucson. Good to be home. Better to leave home. Talk to you next Tuesday!

I agree with earlier comments that the bitterness was especially profound this week. Wanted to thank you, Bmo for the advice. We are in the full force planning stages for a weekend show to start in September.

And we got some press for our little show this week. If anyone cares the article is at http://comedyunderthetap.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/CUTT_05132010_KCR_Article.pdf

I think the reason our room is as good as it is is partly due to hearing the he’ll gig stories and rants from BtB. Lol.

My God! Dunham has just broken the Wooden Wall. I’m having trouble believing it myself but my wife confirmed for me what we just saw. Jeff Dunham appeared in a scene with Walter wherein Walter and he were sitting on opposite end of the couch being interviewed. Walter was speaking, but Dunham was not close enough to him to be operating him. Friends, this is BIG news! Do you have any idea the implications? To this point Dunham’s genius has been at least partly attributable to the constraints of the requirement of close proximity with the Dummy. No more! The door has been busted wide open, and the future is uncertain but EXCITING!!
