Marlon Wayans? Really?

Nice car dick!

Topics on the day include calibrating the fuckometer, gambling with Jesus, preparing a set vs. winging it, why Bob Hope is shitty, Bill Hick’s principles of stand-up, a Jay Black sighting, and the Richard Pryor biopic already on life support.  Commandment #13 thou shalt not fart on the greenroom couch.

Who was the headliner who got on you about “fuck?” Name names! Personally, I don’t understand why anyone cares to volunteer a critique of another comic’s act. If some open mike person asks my opinion, I’ll give it, or a comic I know asks for feedback on a particular bit. But pulling someone aside for unsolicited advice? Ugh.

I hate to disagree… but this episodes “best joke of all time” was the first one that actually made me laugh… It’s rare to hear a bar joke I haven’t heard 10,000 times before, and this one surprised me…

Interesting experience last night. One of the open mic’ers decided to quote comedians/sources for jokes. Told a Texts From Last Night joke that he thought was funny, and then told a story, and then said “And as I quote Bill Burr ‘Stand in line to lose half your shit’ ” or something along those lines. Kinda bizarre, kinda funny as well.

Found the Bill Hicks Comedic principles fascinating, but thought his 1st rule kinda ironic:

“If you can be yourself on stage, nobody else can be you, and you have the law of supply and demand covered.”

Umm… nice sentiment by Bill, but doesn’t Dennis Leary disprove his statement ?!

To play devil’s advocate, Marlon Wayans, although not the “star”, was pretty damn solid in ‘Requiem For a Dream’. I actually think he’d be decent if he doesn’t ham it up, Wayans style, and approaches Pryor’s life as the serious actor (sorry) he seemed to be in that movie.

Besides, Jamie Foxx played Ray Charles. Jim Carrey played Andy Kaufmann. Fucking J-Lo was Selena…I think. In Living Colour was clearly the breeding ground for bio-pic stardom.

“In Living Color was clearly the breeding ground for bio-pic stardom.”

    My favorite statement ever.
