Have Steven Wright And Roseanne Barr Lost Their Touch?

Time to call out sick and cancel dinner with the kids because Brian loaded up an extra large show.

After a successful maiden voyage, Brian takes a minute to thank all of the listeners for their participation and answers a few frequently asked questions. Among topics covered are his abrupt split with MSR, his harsh (or perhaps not harsh enough) critique of Dane Cook, and announcement on a new career path.

He then welcomes in one of stand-up’s harshest critics Mike, who evaluates 2 new comedy specials by big names in the business, Steven Wright and Roseanne Barr. I’ll give you a hint, he loved one and hated the other.

He wraps it up with a “biggissimo” rant on chain Italian restaurants and spotlights a comic who lived the rock star life both on and off the stage.

Another strong show BMO. One hour plus….wow!!!! I had to listen to it in takes.

The quick take thing errr voicemail thing at the beginning was pretty funny. If I started out on my own, I would repeat the quick take line as the voicemail line and not even notice it. I don’t know whether that was on purpose, or whether you caught yourself lol.

Anyway….hope to see the boards up soon.

The guy in the dorm with the acoustic guitar… you forgot to mention how “sensitive” he is, and also the fact he has no male friends. Hilarious Mike.

Y’know, I like the “no tome constraints” better. You just get to hear the complete rants.

I made a huge mistake with this show though, no I didn’t assume it wasn’t “lame”. Last night I was at the funeral home for my grandmother, and I am a little, o.k. a lot, claustrophobic so I was outside a good bit. Anywho I was listening to “behind the bricks” on the “ole ipod while outside, by myself. Well, I was laughing and chuckeling, alone in the corner. Apparantly, this isn’t normal behavior, and I found out quickly that noone knew I was listening to anything.

I guess ther IS a time and a place for everything, and a funeral home isn’t a place for behind the bricks. What about watching the shows six feet under or family plots there… still not appropriate?!?! ummm yeah

I’m not sure if there’s a way to post your own thread, but does anyone find Billy Connolly funny. I think it’s a tad creepy having a 65 year old talk about vaginas, but maybe that’s just me. He’s also got an interesting look, kind of a pirate meets gay disco thing?

That’s a good call. British comedy in general is kind of hit and miss for me. I really like Eddie Izzard, but Benny Hill makes me question my profession.

Not specifically related to this show, but found this interesting. How NOT to deal with hecklers:

NO DOUBT why not rant on the celebrity or “celebrity” racist rant.

I definitely address it on the show. It’s even worse when you see it. Check out the video on youtube. You can actually see him unravel.

Hey Brian, former (well, and I guess still current) all-in listener here. Really glad I stumbled on this podcast, because I was catching up on your old MSR Comedy Lounge podcasts when they suddenly ended, so it’s good to see you’re continuing the podcast here. I gotta say, these are really good so far, especially now that you’re free to rant and tangent to your heart’s content.

I cracked up when you started to list the old quick take number, then said that would be “the ultimate joke on you guys.” It’s ad-libbing like that that’s gonna take you far. I’m still catching up on these, can’t wait to hear the next 3.
