Amusingly, on Sunday Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement were the first people nominated into the NZ Fringe Hall of Fame. This actually made sense, considering that their first gig as the Flight of the Conchords was at the Fringe Club which was kind of a precursor to the Chit Chat Lounge. Which is a late night Letterman talk show hosted by Derek Flores and Vinyl Burns. It’s that and their carreers were made much “betterer?” at the Edinburough Fringe. So, yeah, I’m cool with it, and who else but me matters?

Hey, a bunch of comics were being all emo about not getting reviewed this festival with even the big names not getting (unpaid) mentions. While most theatre pieces did get reviewed. Now, in NZ, one of the only ways to actually do your own show is to be part of the festival circuit, so not being reviewed can hurt your show’s success. And it does blow that the “theatre only” reviewers will be reviewing the comedy festival, because there is nothing out there but comedy, but… Well, wht’s the deal? What is review culture (?dumb word for it) like in the states or the UK? What ways do you lot get/use publicity? Is there an elitism thing everywhere? How abouts you just ramble at me, ’cause I don’t even know what I’m trying to ask?

Mike: yeah it was, they wanted fifteen and that got you a free dvd. however you could perform if you brought four. I think a averaged about nine. I did buy a DVD though because it went so well it mioght get me more gigs in the future. the only real problem I had was remembering my set, so i had to bring out my notebook, but i think i pulled it off. still i have to try to improve my memory

also:Patton Oswalt’s new cd is gonna rock. I saw him at carolines a few weeks ago and he’s talking about his family now in a very Louis CK way. it was really good.
