Topics on the day include hiding out in the cornfields, reading between the lines to find compliments, retarded sperm, burning penises, albs that are out of style, breaking hooker’s beds and Artie Lange takes the image of the tortured comic too far.  I got your $20 right here!

I find it tough to complain about just about anyone who is well loved but is self destructive. The way I look at it is that they may not be so great without the problems they have. I think of people like Belushi, Farley & Hedberg and I think that maybe what makes them what they are and what we love is what tears them apart. If I had my druthers I would certainly rather have them all alive and healthy but I think it goes back to the question of whether it’s better to burn out or fade away. The star that burns brightest, burns fastest.

I like the workshop thing so far. I may try and ride along with it as well. I had a mildly interesting story from this past Christmas that I feel could be very funny if I plotted it paced it embellished a little bit so I may give it a whirl. Then again I’m a lazy MF and it probably won’t happen. There’s Xbox to be played and TV to watch. If I don’t do it who will?

Great show. Here’s what I like about the religious fashion premise: it’s set up as a religion bit, but the punch has little to do with religion itself. Tighten everyone’s butthole, then release. Nice.

Artie: Generally I’m one of those people who look at celebrities with “issues” and say whatever, particularly when it’s a Lindsay Lohann or Corey Haim, or someone with average talents and more money than sense. But Artie (never met him) seems to have real, deep-seated shit going on. I don’t think he’s ever been thought of as A-list in terms of his stand-up, but if you wanna see some balls, go to Youtube and search Artie Lang + N**ger and check it out.

I’ve weighed in on the Leno/Conan/NBC debacle that is now unfolding. Click my name above if you care. Brian, this may be a decent topic – the whole comedy-on-late-night thing. But who knows what will happen in the coming week. Oh, Patton Oswalt didn’t hold back on this subject when interviewed on Comedy Death Ray.

PS: Goddamn I wish I had written that Shandling bit. That’s fucking GOOD.

I feel really bad for Conan. You know what’s even worse? His show is really good. I haven’t gotten a chance to watch it since October, but whenever I Hulu it, the show is hilarious.

I Love the way he’s handling it, and actually give NBC some credit for allowing him to bash the network every night in his monologue. It’s the least they can do for dicking him around.

Conan can’t lose in this situation. Everyone, and I mean everyone (including other late-night hosts) is on his side. He’s going to come out of this golden and more popular than ever. His ratings went up 42 percent in one night, for God’s sake.

Conan’s monologues since this debacle started have been fucking incredible.

I’ve tried but I just can’t get into Conan. Don’t get me wrong, Leno needs to be put out to pasture but I honestly prefer Craig Ferguson out of all the late night hosts. With that said, I think this is heading toward being Letterman all over again. Problem is I don’t know where Conan would land if he was forced out.

Jay is now fighting back saying he’s been made to look like the bad guy. All I want to know is, why does this shit only seem to follow him? There are a dozen late night shows and I’m sure there is controversy around all of them, but there’s only drama when Leno’s involved. The shocking thing is, his show is cripplingly boring, but I find the whirlwind around him fascinating.

I have an ethics question. So I’m reading a few other forums on other interests and I run across a post that just kills me.
It’s a complete joke pretty much all by itself. It happens all the time in forums. Someone could easily work that into his routine and the likelihood of anyone knowing or even remembering there is a different source for that joke is nill.
I think you know where I’m going with this.
    Wouldya? Is it unethical?

    And I don’t mean an open-miker, I mean somebody who’s performing regularly.

I really love this workshop. Its my opinion that I would rather stay away from religion as topic. I have seen it shut down audiences quick. I think it takes a highly skilled comedian to be able to pull it off.

I am doing worshop with you guys as well just to see what process you use to come up with Bit.

Leonardo- It’s probably unethical, at least it seems to be to me.

Oh, great job Brian and Tony I thought those stories were hysterical when I heard first them at TAI and I think they will be a great part of a set.
