Class Is In Session

June 28, 2007

After a lot of soul searching and several conversations with Jesus, Brian was ready to put out today’s show.

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to learn stand up in a classroom?  Of course you have.  Brian discusses his experiences with comedy workshops, how to keep from getting ripped off, and the pros and cons of shelling out cash for a lesson in being funny.

Other topics include, why a guy in a monkey suit is always funny, a hack writes a tell all book, how to be a true patriot, and our final listener requested comic of June.  Germans love David Hasselhoff!

Comedy Should Not Be A Reality Show

June 21, 2007

Last Comic Standing is back on the air which means thousands of comedians around the country can be overheard bitching.

Brian invites Dylan Gadino from punchlinemagazine.com onto the show to discuss stand up as reality tv and hopefully shed some light onto the struggling comedy scene.

Brian also breaks down audience dynamics, a rant about local newspapers, and we give some respect to today’s audience selected comic of the week.

Everybody Loves Hedberg

June 14, 2007

We talk top 10 comics on Behind The Bricks today, and 2 names keep popping up, Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg. Brian talks about why these 2 are so easy to love.

Listener topics include, the search for the next great hack, Brian recants his position on guitar acts (sort of), and are comics to blame for the shitty state of stand up?

Finally, a break down of items that are worth the extra mone, one great comic who is hanging them up and another who is set for life, and a listener requested stand up who will rant until he’s blue in the face. If you don’t think it’s funny, that’s your problem.

Open Mic Night

June 7, 2007

We’re 30 episodes in and with all of the topics that have been brought up on the show, the bulk of today’s discussion is…Is David Spade really a dick. Other audience suggestions include an honest review of females in stand up and supply and demand, did comedy screw itself with over saturation.

Ryan Valeriano from the Stand Up Orlando comedy podcast stops by to discuss open mics. They are a painful necessity for everyone dreaming of a career in comedy, but hopefully with a few tips, they can be tolerable.

Finally, a recap of B-Mo in the big city, and our first listener requested comic showcase of the month.
