Git R Done!!!

May 23, 2007

Today’s show is all about hooks. No, not the ones used to drab Brian off stage on any given night, but those catch phrases and one liners that sell t-shirts and bumper stickers. Yes they get you noticed and they may make you rich, but at what cost?

Plus, the improvisers have spoken. After a week of improv bashing, some defenders of the art have stepped forward to plead their case. Be sure to listen to them compare Brian to Hitler.

Finally, a “but I was just trying to fit in” rant of the week from Brian’s childhood, and our final funny female for the month of May.

Thank God You’re Here!

May 16, 2007

Today’s show is all about improv. How do they come up with that hilrious stuff on the spot? Here’s the secret…They Don’t!

Brian once again lets his bitterness shine through as he discusses his background in improv and why he’s soured on the art form forever. In the interest of fairness, however, Brian welcomes Second City veteran and host of This Ain’t Iowa, Tommy Dutch to the show. Tommy recounts his experiences in the Second City process, his brief stint in stand up, and a fantastic hell gig story that could have landed him in the ER. But I have a black friend!

Dane Cook, Meet Lenny Bruce

May 9, 2007

After bagging on a recent bloggers list of influential stand-up comics, Brian steps up and defends himself by creating a list of his own. Shockingly, names like Dane Cook and Jerry Seinfeld have been replaced by comics who who actually influential.

Listener topics include audition tapes, comedy vs. tragedy (an insiders perspective), and Screech doing stand up.

Finally, a rant of the week aimed at privileged celebrities, and a comic who has built an empire comparable to Oprah, only gayer.

How To Be Your Own Pimp

May 2, 2007

Ok, we get it. You write some dick jokes, find a place to tell them, and hope it makes people laugh. But what do you do when your family is tired of it.

Today Brian covers the much requested topic of the “business” of show business. He covers how to market yourself to clubs, put together a press kit, and what to watch out for when shopping for agents. Later in the show Brian is joined by Kirk Buckhout who has grown weary of the club bullshit and has become his own producer.

As though that weren’t enough, all of your comments addressed, the final word on bar jokes on stage, a state trouper edition od the rant of the week, and our first female comic showcase in show history.
