Boo! You Suck!

November 29, 2006

Today’s episode is all about hecklers. Those charming comedy club patrons that just can’t see themselves enjoying the show, unless they’re the center of attention.

Brian tries to figure out what compels people to pay money to make an ass of themselves. Is it jealousy? Drunkeness? Or an overall sense of self loathing. Brian also tries to disect the art of dealaing with a heckler. As Kenny Rodgers once said, “You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, and know when to make some tasty rotisserie chicken”.

Finally, we revisit Michael “But I have a black friend” Richards a week after N-Day. Have you heard the lame apologys? Does anyone think his actions were justified? And will you ever to be able to watch Seinfeld again without racial slurs popping into your head.

Kramer - The Wacky, Racist Neighbor!

November 22, 2006

Today’s Behind The Bricks is all about decency (or lack there of). Brian talks about clean vs. dirty comics. Is there a stigma in the stand-up community toward comics who work clean?

And of course how could we forget everyone’s favorite racist douche bag, Michael Richards! Brian analyzes the has been’s tirade and answers the question, is it ever ok to go there.

He wraps it up with nicotine fueled rant of the week and spot lights another rock star comic who owes his career to The King Of All Media.

Have Steven Wright And Roseanne Barr Lost Their Touch?

November 15, 2006

Time to call out sick and cancel dinner with the kids because Brian loaded up an extra large show.

After a successful maiden voyage, Brian takes a minute to thank all of the listeners for their participation and answers a few frequently asked questions. Among topics covered are his abrupt split with MSR, his harsh (or perhaps not harsh enough) critique of Dane Cook, and announcement on a new career path.

He then welcomes in one of stand-up’s harshest critics Mike, who evaluates 2 new comedy specials by big names in the business, Steven Wright and Roseanne Barr. I’ll give you a hint, he loved one and hated the other.

He wraps it up with a “biggissimo” rant on chain Italian restaurants and spotlights a comic who lived the rock star life both on and off the stage.

The Dane Cook Effect

November 8, 2006

Welcome to the pilot episode of Behind The Brick, where we strip down stand-up until it just isn’t funny.

Let’s start out by getting to know our host, professional comedian Brian Mollica.  From his humble beginnings in Tucson, AZ, to his humble years working the clubs of Manhattan, and his now humblest life on the road.

Brian tracks comedy from the boom of the 1980’s, to the lull of the 1990’s, and the recent resurgence.  He also gives his opinion of Dane Cook, stand-up’s biggest star.  Is he a comedic genius or a joke stealing retard?
